What sparked your interest in financial planning? What fuels you every day in your work?

I have been interested in personal finance ever since I was a kid.  When I was pursuing my master’s degree in accounting I took some financial planning courses and enjoyed them so much I decided to make a career out of it. I love being able to help people make informed financial decisions and help them achieve their goals.

What’s a particularly rewarding example of how you helped to create impact for a client?

I had clients who wanted to retire, but who were unsure if they could afford to while still enjoying their current standard of living.  I worked with them to build out a detailed analysis of their financial situation to assist them in determining whether they would be able to retire and maintain their lifestyle.  Additionally, they were able to have the peace of mind that, if something unexpected came up, we could help them to make any needed adjustments along the way to ensure they could continue to have the kind of retirement they wanted.

How do you do good in your community?

I volunteer with my local church youth program helping the younger generation learn good life skills and how to serve the community.

Where did you grow up? Where do you live now?

I grew up in a small town in northern Utah (Perry) and currently live in Beverly Hills, Florida.

But there are other rules regarding Social Security benefits, especially when it comes to taxation, that are more complex and often confusing.
