When Modera was founded, we wanted to build a culture where we were always asking ourselves, how could we do right by our clients and communities?
Guiding us has been a set of shared values, rooted in transparency, integrity and the commitment to be always learning about what more we can do to make a positive and thoughtful impact.
What We Believe
We believe that quality advice should be front and center in the financial advisory profession. Modera was founded with this goal in mind: to be an alternative to the large banks and brokerage firms, which primarily focus on products and sales rather than the needs of clients.
We believe that adopting a true fiduciary standard of care is the best way to provide financial advice. Period. In short, we treat our clients the way they would want to be treated.
We believe in transparency and truthfulness. Our focus is on helping each client develop and implement an attainable long-term plan that is supported by a durable investment portfolio. We promise not to over-promise.
We believe in an evidence-based approach to investing. We won’t risk our clients hard-earned wealth by chasing investment fads or predictions.
We believe in the power of listening.
We believe that the best financial advisors combine subject-matter knowledge, life experience, a desire to continuously learn, and a true passion for our profession. We are committed to hiring, retaining and promoting the best talent and believe that a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace creates a richer experience for all.
We believe in making a positive impact – on the lives of our clients and employees, and in our communities.
The Modera Charitable Foundation supports giving back initiatives, including pro bono financial planning services, local non-profits and emergency service organizations.
Serving our communities as a collective or as individuals has always been important to us. Whether it’s donating to the local food pantry or a fundraising event, we seek to find areas of need and assist them wholeheartedly. Each year, our Philanthropy Committee determines a central theme and leads a Day of Service where all colleagues roll up our sleeves and go to work.
Professional Leadership: Our colleagues serve as leaders in professional associations within our financial planning industry. Twice in Modera history, our colleagues served as President of NAPFA (National Association of Personal Financial Advisors). A Modera colleague currently serves on the Disciplinary and Ethics Commission of the CFP® Board and others as mentors for advancing women in the financial services profession.
Community Leaders: Our colleagues give generously of their time and talent within their communities, serving as board members or officers within regional chamber organizations, town recreation councils and planning boards, networking organizations, and philanthropic organizations.
