What sparked your interest in financial planning? What fuels you every day in your work?
I originally went to college with the goal of helping people, which I thought I would do best by writing legislation. Life had different ideas for me, and I discovered financial planning. It married the goal of having a fulfilling career with my love of critical and analytical thinking, and I haven’t looked back. Nothing makes me happier than hearing positive feedback from clients and knowing that I helped to make a difference in their lives.
What’s a particularly rewarding example of how you helped to create impact for a client?
In my previous position, I worked with many young professionals. There was one memorable client with whom I was working with in regard to her student loans. I was able to give her the news that because of a recent change in legislation, she was eligible to have a portion of her loans forgiven that previously did not qualify. Seeing her face light up and this burden lift from her shoulders made my day.
When you retire you’re going to…?
Travel! My goal is to one day hit all seven continents. So far, I have three down and four to go.
Where did you grow up? Where do you live now?
I grew up in sunny southwest Florida, and currently live in Manhattan.
