After the initial plan is developed, we serve as your ongoing partner to implement the strategies and respond to changing conditions and objectives. Because Modera is a Registered Investment Adviser, we are required to act in the best interest of our clients. We are also fee-only, which means we get paid directly from our clients for our advice, not through any commissions. This allows us to be objective when we make financial recommendations. Conversely, traditional Wall Street firms are composed of broker-dealers who are only required to act in the best interest of their clients at the time a recommendation is made but not all of the time. They can also receive commissions from selling investment products.  Learn more about our core beliefs.

Registered Investment Advisers, such as Modera, are held to a fiduciary standard of care. As your fiduciary, we are legally obligated and personally committed to maintaining an allegiance of confidentiality, trust, loyalty, and disclosure to you. We place your interests first and act in your best interest at all times.  We have no hidden fees, incentives, or compensation that may prevent us from providing advice in your best interest.

And no, unlike the advisers at Modera, not all financial professionals are fiduciaries. Before you entrust someone to manage your money you may want to ask if they act in a fiduciary capacity.

We are paid by our clients.  We never receive compensation based on product recommendations or from sales or payments from third parties. At Modera, we believe that being a fee-only advisor helps to avoid possible conflicts of interest and better aligns with the interests of our clients.

We don’t believe in putting your money at unnecessary risk, instead we guide you toward solutions that we believe are globally diversified, tax-efficient, and low-cost, with an aim to bring you long-term results that are aligned with your unique financial objectives.

This approach utilizes the principles of Modern Portfolio Theory (a Nobel Prize-winning concept) to design portfolios intended to be well-diversified across major asset classes and accounts in a tax-efficient manner. We use low expense, highly liquid, institutional share class mutual funds and exchange traded funds (ETFs) to shift the focus away from the choice of individual securities toward the efficient allocation of capital across a broad range of asset classes. In addition, we offer higher net worth individuals access to individually managed accounts and private investments
